Les Editions du Chene, Paris., 1943. First edition. Quarto. 53 pages, almost half of which are devoted to colour illustrations by Lucha Truel. Colour pictorial boards sewn into a card backstrip, seemingly without free endpapers. A seven-year-old circulating permanently in the Metro imagines life above ground at various of its stations. Surrealist elements. French text.Madeleine Truel worked as a forger for the French Resistance. She was captured, tortured and killed by the Nazis.Inscription on first blank. A bit of rubbing to covers. Very good.
