About This Item

The late Leon Gaspard was a member of the Taos, N M colony of artists. He was born in Russia. He traveled throughout Asia, often on horseback, and painted. He needed to see the indigenous world that was vanishing before his eyes. There are 50 full color plates and 7 photographs by Gaspard. The first edition of this book was published in 1964, the year of Gaspard's death at age 81. The author, Frank Waters was a friend and also a member of the Taos colony. He is a well known author who has written about indigenous cultures. The book is published by Forrest Fenn, a long time Santa Fe gallery owner and friend of the author and subject. The book and jacket are in near fine condition, with bumps on the bottom front and back outside corners. Very minor shelf wear. Frank Waters has signed on the title page (no inscription).

About mark mcdonald

Book collector for over 30 years. I'm retired and ready to sell. I buy almost exclusively from estate sales and since I've lived in Dallas my whole life, I know the people and where to go. I am a low volume collector and seller and deal in higher quality books. I have a lot of signed and inscribed books. These signatures have not been officially authenticated, but I am confident in their authenticity so I will guarantee them in perpetuity if it can be reasonably demonstrated that the signature is incorrect. .
