1st English language Edition, 1948. 44 full-page examples of lettering in book art, printed in black or russet and black, with detailed descriptions on the facing page. Very Good condition. No inscriptions apart from the pencil ownership name of the Swiss graphic designer Walter Herdeg to rear flap of dustwrapper. and price 25/- in pencil to front flap of endpaper.
Imre Reiner (1900-1987) was a Hungarian - Swiss typographer, painter, artist, woodcut illustrator, and graphic designer, known for his Meridian and Corvinus fonts. He best work was in Stuttgart and in Switzerland, with stints in London and New York. His wife Hedwig was also a designer and collaborated on a number of his books.
Walter Herdeg (1908 – 1995) was a Swiss graphic designer, noted for his travel posters and work with Graphis Magazine, who was awarded an AIGA medal in 1986.
