1854 World Panorama America INDIANS Hunting GOLD Australia Arabia China Africa

William Pinnock's 'Panorama of the Old Word and the New' was written to give a 'living picture' of the countries of the world as they were in the 1850s. Pinnock sought to achieve this by including information on what he deemed as most important – boundaries, political condition, manners, customs, peculiarities, modes of life, and an occasional look at history for Europe, Asia, America (North and South) and Africa. Pinnock makes use of excellent illustrators to bring the panorama to life with engravings of animals, hunting, Native Americans, gold digging in Australia, and a myriad of costumes, scenes, and portraits of places and peoples.

This 1854 edition is embellished with several hundred engravings from designs of Croome, Devereux, and other distinguished artists!

Description:
1853 Daimonion Spiritual Medium Demons Ghosts OCCULT Salem Witchcraft Samson

George W Samson was a Reverend in Washington City who published many works including 'To Daimonion' in which he explains the phenomena of 'spiritual rappings' or 'spiritual knockings' through the 'nervous principle,' and animal magnetism. His attempt to explain clairvoyance, trances, second-sight, kinesis, and others comes from his thought that the 'daimonion' (the demon), is the spirit of the universe, which when excited causes these phenomena to occur. He uses quotations from Herodotus, Xenophon, Cicero, Pliny, and others to try and illustrate how all of these people were discussing the same thing and simply were conduits being used when the demon or spirit of the universe got excited, which could be done consciously or subconsciously by a person.

This 1853 edition was controversial with reviews which said it was
"the most ingenious and intelligent discussion of what has been termed "modern Spiritualism" while others… Read More
