Two of two volumes, complete. Volume One is the 1796 Third Edition; Volume Two is the 1803 Second Edition. Classic advice on the conduct of life from physician and author John Aikin to his eldest son, Arthur Aikin. Clearly the effort worked, as "Arthur Aikin, FLS, FGS (19 May 1773 – 15 April 1854) was an English chemist, mineralogist and scientific writer, and was a founding member of the Chemical Society (now the Royal Society of Chemistry).
