Hardback, 1878, with a number of foldout facsimiles of letters, published by George Routledge and Sons, London, 524 pages + xx.
Measures around 7 1/4" by 5 3/8 by 1 3/8"". Green cloth binding, embossed, black lettering and detail to front board, gilt lettering and gilt and black detail to spine. Small tears to upper and lower edges of spine. Scuffing and a few little tears, some signs of shelf-wear, bumped corners. Binding slack at spine, though holding; a little strained throughout. Some tearing to front inner hinge, though not split. Page edges browned, marked and scuffed. Upper edges a little rough. Previous owner inscription to verso of front free endpaper but page surfaces otherwise clean, little marking and no underlining, marginalia, etc. See pictures for further information.
