First Edition, one of 2532 copies. 8vo; bound in 3/4 dark blue morocco and marbled paste-paper boards, five raised bands on spine, author and title gilt, marbled paste-page doublures, original wrappers and spine bound in, fine. This book contains early letters and several previously unpublished poems by Eluard and has a cover portrait of the poet by Surrealist painter Francis Picabia (1879-1953).
