The leather covers are faded, and edges rubbed, spine tips worn. Covers scuffed and a few stray marks. Very clean inside. Blue silk pagemark. Text in French. This is number 228 of the limited edition of 633 copies. Very scarce title. Worldcat records 5 copies in librairies worldwide. 7" high X 6" wide, 182 pages. N.p.: N.p., 1788. Hardcover. 8vo. Full vellum. (Ca. 300pp). Sewn-in green silk page marker. Very good. Rather crude binding pleasingly aged, yellowed and irregular, but without the bowing often evident on full vellum bindings. Intriguingly cryptic late 18th century handwritten copy of what appears to be a hairy theological text by the Spanish cleric, Jesuit and author (1562-1655) known in Latin as Luisii Turriani, first published in Madrid in 1630. Handsomely and boldly penned entirely in Latin in rich brown ink on attractive laid paper of the period, with a great many headings and subheadings. Our Latin is limited to "e pluribus unum," "sic semper tyrannis" and similar commonplace phrases, but our guess is that this was the product of a seminary student or other academic as a Latin exercise. "Tuccillo" is penned below the year on the title page as if produced in that city, but our research fails to produce a city by that name. Tight, clean and quite handleable.

Raised bands with gilt wavy lines on the spine. The compartments ruled and decorated in gilt. Red and green Morocco labels, double ruled and lettered in gilt. All edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. Gilt inner dentelles. Faint mark to the front board and a crack to the inner front endpaper, but the board is firm and tight and there is no cracking to the leather. Overall a near fine copy of this classic work.

Eighteenth century Catholic instructional, with prayers for Morning and Evening, Stations of the Cross, Confession, Communion, Church Feast Days For The Entire Year, Litanies, Procession to the Holy Trinity, Pilgrimages, a Special Devotion to the Blessed Virgin, and more. Authored by renowned German theologian and ascetic, P. Martin von Cochem (1630-1712), Capuchin friar celebrated for his piety and dedication to those in both spiritual and temporal need. Full leather binding, some decorative tooling. Illustrated with eight wonderful full-page copper engravings. Leather aged yet retains resiliency, hinges supple and uncracked, a few chinks along the spine shoulders, some board corner wear. Text clean and bright, binding perfectly tight, sound, and square. Blank end papers inscribed with early family history entries.
