Ratisbonae (Regensburg): Apvd Montagivm et Weissivm, 1806. Period calf backed marbled boards, 5 raised gilt stamped bands, leather stamped title, all edges red. 8vo. pp. 758, [2] Errata. Good/No jacket, as issued/Ex-Lib. Embossed stamp of Newton Theological Institute (later Andover Newton Theological Seminary) with two quill notations on ffep (purchase in Hohenwestedt for 6s Exlibris Caroli Nichteri's...) which are a German town and Greek city repectively. Edgeworn intact boards, head worn to exposed signatures, tail chipped. Can be rebacked to your specifications on request. Wisdom of Sirach or Ben Sira (Books of Ecclesiasticus, not to be confused with Ecclesiastes) was a book of ethical teachings. Written by Jewish Scribe Ben Sira of Jerusalem c.200-175BCE and is said to be the largest book of wisdom from antiquity to have survived. Later translated into Greek by his anonymous grandson.
