London: Whittaker & Co, 1840. Half-Leather. Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Pages; 1- VIII, 440 / VII, (1), 353, (1) / VIII, 385. Dimensions; 198 by 128mm. Leather bindings with marbled covers. The leather is worn, leather cracking at the spine edges, vol 2 with leather loss at the base of the spine, the front covers are pretty loose and held by the strings, the rear covers are okay. The text is complete, foxing/browning to the endpapers, 2 titles at the start of each volume- vol 3 with foxing to the 1st title, toning to the pages. Ex Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, their stamp on the 1st titles and at the top margin of page 1, low visibility blindstamp (without ink) at the top of the first few sheets in vol 3. A collection of medical essays by various authors, volumes 1-3, 6 volumes were published, edited by Alexander Tweedie. Vol 1 contains inflammations and fevers. Vol 2 contains, brain, spine and nervous system related including insanity, suicide, pyromania/arson, delirium, hysteria. Vol 3 contains respiration and circulation.
