Half leather over marbled paper boards, gilt titles on spinea, top edges gilt, decorative endpapers. Vol. 1: xv, 206 pp, frontispiece photogravure portrait of young Lincoln, many facsimile documents and b & w photo plates; leather spine mostly missing, edges of boards rubbed & frayed, internally very good. Vol 2: [ix], 220 pp, frontispiece portrait of young Lincoln, many facsimile documents and b & w photo plates; spine chipped at ends & sunned, edges of boards rubbed & frayed, internally very good. McClure's magazine in the 1890s solicited reminiscences and documents related to Lincoln from those who knew him. Tarbell used this newly uncovered material along with previously published material to write a series of biographical articles about Lincoln which were eventually assembled into a biography. Volumes 1 & 2 contain her biography of Lincoln until just before he took office as President of the United States. Shipping weight 4 lbs.. Half-Leather. Good/No dj. 23½ X 15 cm.
