Folio Society, London, 1970; large 8vo, 160 x 250mm; covers simulated vellum and carrying both there and on the lavender and gold end papers the cipher of Charlemagne; titled gilt on the spine; very good condition throughout but with the spine a little dulled; burgundy slip case showing some fading at the fore edges and the front top edge; note that any reference to "jacket" refers to the slip case; pp 88; frontispiece and 16 coloured plates and an outline map of the empire... ..... ..... ..... ..... .....
