Spines with five raised bands, red morocco title label and black morocco volume label. Double gilt fillet border to boards. Rubbing and scarring to boards. Heavy wear to corners of boards. Wear to ends of spines. Joints cracked but holding with cords, front board of Volume II is loose. Volume I with portrait frontis (after Holbein) and two plates of handwriting specimens. Volume II with five plates, mostly handwriting specimens. Bookplate to both front pastedown endpapers (Alford Book Club). Light foxing and marking to endpapers, clean text throughout. ESTC: T146995.
