Herrin, IL: Crossfire Press, 1989 Crossfire Press, Herrin, IL. 1989. Hardcover. Reprint of the 1925 original. Book is tight, square, and unmarked. Book Condition: Near Fine; light bump to head and tail; small pen mark on textblock fore edge. DJ: Near Fine; light rubbing to panels; light bumping to head and tail. Black cloth boards and spine with bright silver lettering on the spine and front board. 253 pp 8vo. This is a reprint of the 1925 biography of Southern Illinois' most infamous law officer. The information was comiled by a friend and admirer from data provided by Young except for the last chapter which was compiled by another of his intimate friends. Hired by Marion Law Enforcement League to bring order to Williamson County, Young soon proved to be more disruptive to the peace of the area than any number of bootleggers, gamblers, and gunmen. He was killed in 1925 in a shootout in Herrin that might have come from a Zane Gray novel. A clean very presentable copy.
