One of the standard early Washington biographies.An early life of George Washington by American physician, politician and historian David Ramsey (1749-1815) who "remained to the end the pious, benevolent, and unwearied public servant" (DAB). Ramsay's laudatory biograph emphasized the political and military side of Washington in contrast to other biographers such as Mason Locke Weems. 371pp.<br><br>CONDITION: Covers are heavily rubbed, and front cover is a little warped. Leather is intact, except for chips missing off the tail of the spine. Front flyleaf and frontispiece are missing the lower half of the page and appear to be bonded together. Binding and text block are sound. Foxing throughout, but text is clear. Full refund if not satisfied.
