Nice condition copy of the "Life of HARRIET BEECHER STOWE" - Compiled from Her Letters and Journal by her son, Charles Edward Stowe. 1890 1st edition; Houghton, Mifflin, and Company; Boston and New York. The book features facsimile documents, as well as numerous full-page illustrations and portraits. Gilt top page edges. Also included is an original publisher's double-sided advertising sheet with "Uncle Tom's Cabin" on one side, and "The Works of Harriet Beecher Stowe" on the other.

The chapters are as follows: Childhood; School Days in Hartford; Cincinnati; Early Married Life; Poverty and Sickness; Removal to Brunswick; UNCLE TOM'S CABIN; First Trip to Europe; Sunny Memories; From Over the Sea; Home Again; Dred; Old Scenes Revisited; The Minister's Wooing; The Third Trip to Europe; THE CIVIL WAR; Florida; Oldtown Folks; The Byron Controversy; George Eliot; Closing Scenes.

Condition:
There are a couple small, light stains at the bottom-right corner of the front cover; there are some tiny scratch lines along the bottom edge of the back cover; sharp corners. Bright gilt on the front cover and spine; bright gilt top page edges. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Nice interior - the pages are clean with only some foxing to a few pages at the front. The lower-outer corner of the tissue paper over the Henry Ward Beecher plate has torn. Overall the book is in Very Good+ condition.
