New York: Carlton & Porter, 1866. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good+. 8vo (8.5"x6"). 544pp. +ads. 1/4 bound in leather and marbled paper-covered boards, giltstamped spine with 4 raised band. Edgewear to paper-covered areas, heavily rubbed. Conditioned leather in VG condition with several dampstains. Textblock edges toned and foxed. Front hinge cracked, starting (sewn binding intact). "Melinda Hamline" in pencil to ffep. Obituary and handwritten letter signed by L. L. Hamline glued to rear endpapers.
