Brown pebble cloth hardcover ruled in blind with blind stamped design front and rear boards. Title is faded on the spine with black pen neatly written over part of the faded title. covers are creased in the upper corners. Edge wear to the cloth head and base of the spine. Scattered foxing to the front end paper, frontispiece, title page, and rear end sheet. Light toning to the rest of the contents. British author comments on his voyage, New York, Broadway at night, Niagara, Newport, Philadelphia, Washington, St. Louis, Richmond, Louisiana, Alabama, South Carolina, Savannah, Sea Islands, and more. Author also writes about the Irish, Mormons, decline of the Spanish race in America, Pro-Slavery philosophy, politics, culture and more. A cut out bookseller typed paper description is pasted down bottom of the right front flyleaf. Illustrated book plate of Arthur Meier Schlesinger on the front paste down.
