The Scottish-born author married a diplomat who was posted to Mexico. These observations were made in the form of 54 letters sent to family members and weren't originally intended for publication. With an introduction by Manuel Romero de Terreros and a preface by the noted historian William H. Prescott. Everyman's Library #664, part of the EL Travel & Topography series. --- In Everyman's Library larger format binding style 4. Full blue cloth-covered boards with spine titling and interlocked "EL" at tail of spine in gilt; orange topstain. Volume lacks the dust jacket. --- A clean, tightly-bound, bright copy though with a few small soiled spots to cloth and evidence of sticker removal to front free endpaper.; 12mo (7 to 7-1/2 in. tall) ; xxviii, 542, (4, ads) pages .
