About This Item
Garden City: Doubleday, 1963. First Edition, First Issue. A superb presentation copy by the author, Edward Steichen to fellow photographer, Margaret Bourke-White. Inscribed on the title page in two color inks: “For the immortal Maggie Bourke-White with admiration respect & love, Edward Steichen.” Then beneath Steichen’s inscription is an inscription from Margaret Bourke-White presenting the book to Ellen Cousins, the wife of writer Norman Cousins. Bourke-White has written: “From people I love, Steichen and Ellen Cousins. Margaret Bourke-White.” Very good plus copy in a very good dust jacket with an small tear. A coffee table book of a wonderful retrospective of images and text from Steichen’s remarkable career. Enclosed in a handsome custom full cloth folding box. A truly great association copy between two legends of American photography and presentation associations of this caliber are truly rare.
