About This Item
London: John Murray, 1834. Reprint. Half Leather. Very Good/No Jacket. 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall. Finden, E. Type: Z The biography and poetry of George Crabbe published just two years after the poet's death. Eight volumes complete bound in half leather. Each volume gilt embossed to the spine with five raised bands to each spine. Each volume is bound in half leather with marbled boards. Each volume also has marbled endpapers and marbling to the fore-edges. Each volume has a frontispiece (volume one of the author) and an engraved title page by E. Finden. All books remain firmly bound but there is a little or some rubbing to the leather to the head/tail of the spines and to the edges of the spines and perhaps more notably to some of the leather corners. A little scattered foxing to each volume - chiefly to the frontispiece and engraved title page - otherwise largely free. A light stain to the head of the frontispiece with tide-mark. Volume 3 has a paper label with the number 72. A crease to the corner of the rear endpaper and to the rear blank page. The upper hinge corners of volume 4 - frontispiece and title page have a small stain with tide mark. The upper corners of eight leaves of volume 8 are creased. A very good and well preserved eight volume set of this early biography and collected edition.
