Brayer, illustrated by David T. Vernon. From 1840 to the late 1880's he was prominent in the cattle trade. He had learned as a youth in England but when he came to the American West, his knowledge and understanding markets took off. By 1870 to 1903, he was known as the Prairie Cattle King. A lovely printed book and fascinating read. Bound by Elizabeth Kner in 1/4 brown linen over beige paper covered boards, lettering black, spine lettering gilt, very tiny nicks to board edges, damp stain at gutter near head. A very nice copy.
