[1886?] Contemporary dyed red calf, green leather spine label, decorative compartments in gilt with dentelles to boards and inner edges, marbled endpapers and matching edges. 256 pp., frontispiece of Mungo Park at the Drinking Trough. Stamp of Relfe Brothers London on verso of f.f.e.p., owner inscribed on verso of f.f.e.p., light foxing to blank leaves, small tear to upper margin of pp. 256 [not affecting text], some scratches and small smudging to boards, rubbing to joints and outer edges, tips worn, else near fine. Mungo Park [1771-1806] was a Scottish Explorer who led two expeditions along the Niger River in 1795 and 1806. In addition to Park's early writings, the book contains a narrative of his second travels and death, as well as a supplement of Discoveries in Africa subsequent to Park, and down to Dr. Livingstone and H.M.
