About This Item
The Drawing Room Edition of the Poetical Works of Lord Byron: with Illustrative Notes, and a Memoir of the Life of the Author, by William Anderson.
Hardback, undated but mid-1800s, circa 1860 as this is appears to be the latest date mentioned in a footnote (publisher was active from 1841-72); illustrated, published by A. Fullarton & Co., London, Edinburgh, and Dublin; volume 1: ccxxvi + 375 pages; volume 2: 609 pages.
Octavo/8vo. Both volumes measure around 10 3/8" by 7 1/8" by 2". Dark blue cloth binding, gilt lettering and bands to spines. Discolouration to spines and to a lesser degree to boards. Scuffing, some marking, signs of shelf-wear, bumped and torn corners. Tearing to spines, several chips. Bindings display some slackness but reasonably firm. A few loose pages and plates, though all appear to be present. Page edges specked, browned, scuffed, marked and slightly tanned. Tearing and tattering to a small number of page edges, some dog-eared corners. Marking to endpapers, some foxing and marking throughout page surfaces, offsetting on pages next to illustrative plates, the odd stain, but no inscriptions, underlining, marginalia, etc. See pictures for further information.
