The Light of Day by Eric Ambler

Hardcover edition with dust jacket, published by Alfred A. Knopf. Dated on the copyright page as 1962, though the jacket has a UPC code on the back right corner, so this is most likely a recent reprint edition - perhaps from the 1980's. No wear to report to the jacket as it has been protected with a clear, removable, cover. Classic jacket illustration by George Salter. Jacket is not price clipped, though it is not priced. No indication that this is a club edition though, as there is no notation on the copyright page and no blind stamp on the back board. Black boards over bright blue cloth covered boards, the boards are flat, and the corners are not creased or bumped. Sewn binding is tight and square. There is a slight spine lean, and a concavity mark to the spine - not apparent with the jacket on. Basis for the 1962 Jules Dassin film, 'Topkapi'. The classic thriller about the small time grifter who is blackmailed into driving a car filled with explosives and firearms for use in a burglary of the Topkapi Palace. A good reading copy or for display since the dust jacket is in such good condition. Attached photo is of the copy we have in our inventory.
