The author traces the history of lightkeeping in the St. Lawrence River and the Gulf of St. Lawrence from the first light in 1803 until the last manned lighthouse in 1988. Original publishers glossy color pictorial paper covers with red spine lettering. Contains a bibliography in the rear and 35 illustrations, maps and tables. Published in cooperation with the Department of Canadian Heritage and the Canada Communication Group. This is a nice clean, tight and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings, no previous owner names and no bookplates. The covers are in nice condtion with no creases, tears or chips. This is an uncommon history of Canadian lights in the St. Lawrence. This appears to be a first edition--there is no information to the contrary. (It was also issued in a French language edition.); Color & B&W & Illustrations, Maps, Tables; Square 8vo 8" to 9" tall; 112 pages .
