Index, selected bibliography, notes and appendices. Archival black and white illustrations and maps throughout. Author's signature atop title page. "Pittsburgh is surrounded by history. The Rideau Canal, built 1826-1832, forms its western boundary; the mighty St. Lawrence River, gateway to the North American Continent, lies to the south. Its south-western tip contains the Military Reserve, established in 1783, the site of Royal Military College, founded 1876 (formerly the Naval Dockyard 1788-1853), Fort Henry, first built during the war of 1812-1814, and a vast modern military complex covering over 2,000 acres." - from dust jacket. Light wear to clean unmarked book which is leaning moderately. Average wear and several closed tears on dust jacket which is now preserved in a glossy new archival-grade Brodart cover. Overall a sound copy..
