About This Item

Chicago, IL: Holiday Press, 1938. Book. Good+ condition. Hardcover. First Edition. Tall octavo (8vo). 33 pages of text. Hardcover; blue cloth spine with moderate shelfwear and marbled paper-covered boards heavily rubbed at extremities, with rounded corners. Lower fore-edge corner of rear board is damaged with slight loss, with several pages affected with creasing and tiny perforations, affecting margins only. Black leather title label on front cover wraps around onto rear cover which states publisher, place and date; interesting design. Illustrated with photographs of Lincoln's life mask and Sandburg by Steichen, facsimiles of numerous historic and rare broadsides, handwritten letters, telegrams, prospectus issued by Walt Whitman, etc. One of 250 un-numbered copies printed. Previous owner's attractive bookplate neatly on front paste-down endpaper. An attractive, though imperfect copy of this uncommonly offered publication..
