American issue of the author's scholarly reminiscences; originally published in England in 1938. Signed and inscribed by Isherwood in blue ink on front free endpaper: 'for Ron / from Chris. / 3rd St. Sta. Monica / May 8 1968'.1 b/w Photograph / Plate (frontispiece portrait).
