About This Item
London: General Post Office. This hardback edition is bound in dark red cloth with a paper label bearing the title and date, March 1917, covering most of the front cover. The binding consists of a sort of folder, with the paper contents secured with a black ribbon. This ribbon is only attached to the base of the spine. The outer edge of the first page, containing a letter from the Postmaster-General, is covered with an ancient strip of adhesive tape, c. 1/2 inch wide, text unaffected. The letter, from Albert H. Illingworth to the public, suggests that residents use the new system of postcodes to help with saving money for the War. . Very Good. Hardcover. First Edition. 1917.
