Half bound vellum spine bearing gilt lettering with blue cloth boards. Boards how moderate plus wear exteriorly including soiling wear, rubbing wear to the joints and minor chips to the spine edges. Text block has moderate age toning to the edges. Deckled fore and tail edges. Slight cracking to the gutter to end papers, impacting few pages. Previous owner's name to the flyleaf and to rear end paper. Frontispiece with tissue guard. Sparse, slight foxing interiorly. Illustrated. First edition. Limited numbered copies, this in number 308 of 1000. Signed by the author and by the publisher as 'G.P. Putnam's Sons'.
