Corners turned in, short split bottom of front joint, spine faded, bottom rear fore corner worn through, minor fraying bottom of spine, front inner hinge reinforced with clear tape, owner name on front free endpaper, rear endpaper hinge sound; internally clean. On the upper board are stated the Indian Chiefs represented in this volume: Powhatan, Pontiac, Logan, Joseph Brant, Little Turtle, Tecumseh, Black Hawk, Sitting Bull, Chief Joseph, Geronimo (and others not mentioned there). From the introduction it is evident that the author takes a compassionate view of the standing and virtures of the Indians and is critical of how they have been misrepresented by others. 771 pages with B&W illustrations of the subjects of this book.
