Llanelli Borough Council, 1984. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. In very good condition with similar unclipped dust jacket. Jacket is free from nicks and tears with some shelf wear to top of jacket spine, which has also faded. Internally clean throughout. An unconventional history of Llanelli and surrounding areas in the South Wales Valleys. The book takes a diary form with excerpts from various newspapers and journals from around 1800 to the 1980's. A Very Good hardback book with long gift inscription in WELSH on front endpaper = "Presented to Mr. Dilwyn Roberts of the Gwendraeth Historical Society ..." . Fine red cloth boards with bright gilt titling to the spine. In the original publisher's pictorial dustjacket, which is complete and not clipped but with a VERY SUNNED spine - light exposure - so much so that you can hardly make out the titling. Otherwise internally Very Clean, tight and bright. (x) + 502 pages. 13 chapters, index, a number of full-page monochrome reproductions. First chapter covers up to 1850; Subsequent chapters deal with a decade each up to the 1950s; Ends with a chapter covering 1960 onwards. Head and tail of spine bumped/turned-in but No damage. In the original publisher's pictorial dustjacket. The d/j is NOT clipped, but there is some crumpling/creasing to the top edges of the d/j, and the spine of the d/j has some fading to the base colour of the spine (quite usual as the colour was a cherry-red which fades easily to 'pink') but all lettering, etc, is very clear. ALL Hinges sound and the book is tight and very sound, but this is a very heavy book and the text block 'sways' a little. NO Inscriptions or Marks. (x) + 502 pp. Index. Black and white frontispiece and b/w illustrations. Internally an Excellent, Clean Tight and Bright copy.
