Hardback, 1940, first edition, second print, with black and white illustrations and genealogical table, published by John Murray, London, 390 pages.
Measures around 8 3/4"/22.3cm x 6"/15.2cm. Sky blue cloth boards and spine with gilt lettering to spine. Some scuffing and marking with shelf-wear and small tears to upper and lower edges of spine. Slight crack to front outer hinge. Binding reasonably firm though strained here and there. Corners a little bumped. Browning and scuffing to page edges, a little staining/marking to outer edge. Page surfaces generally clean, the odd mark and some pencil writing to title page and genealogical table. Penned gift inscription to FFEP. There does not appear to be any further marginalia, underlining, etc. See pictures for further information.
