New Impression; 8vo; pp. xiv, 498 plus 32 pages of advertisements at rear; 30cmX25cm colour folding map frontispiece, 4 plans, 3 maps 2 of which are folding; original illustrated cream cloth browned, spine cocked, chipping to edges, minor pen marks to half and title pages, pages browned, spine browned, marks to cloth, a good copy. A personal record of Winston Churchill's adventures and impressions during the first five months of the African War. It also gives an account of the operations conducted by Sir Redvers Buller for the Relief of Ladysmith.
