London: The Hogarth Press, 1982. First UK edition. Small octavo. Reddish-grey cloth boards, lettered in gilt, edges trimmed. White illustrated dust jacket by Angelica Garnett, printed in yellow, brown, and black. Fine, in equally fine dust jacket.
First UK edition of essays originally written for "Good Housekeeping" magazine in 1931-1932, and previously only published in book form in an American limited edition of 750 copies in 1975 by Frank Hallman, New York. The five essays of the title are, The Docks of London, Oxford Street Tide, Great Men's Houses, Abbeys and Cathedrals, and This is the House of Commons. A lovely, collectible volume. KIRKPATRICK A43b.
