About This Item

Las Vegas, Nevada: Stephens Press, 2006. Complete with Audio CD still sealed in a clear plastic pouch at the end. BRAND NEW in PERFECT CONDITION. NO chips. NO tears. NO creases. NO rubbing. NO fading. Sharp corners. Bright, clean, square and tight. NO owner's name or bookplate. NOT a remainder. Pages are fresh, crisp, clean and unmarked -- obviously never read. Beautifully illustrated with full color paintings, Native American portraits, and desert scenes -- all with gorgeous calligraphic inscriptions. Map endpapers. Bound in the original textured pictorial leatherette, stamped in black, red, orange, blue and green with portrait of an Indian on the front. From the publisher: "This unique volume could be treasured for the beautiful artwork alone. The poem woven within tells of the artist's encounter with the Hualapai of the Mohave, the People of the Wikame. In legends and dreams an elder of the tribe tells the story of his peoples' origins, their history, religion, and way of life from their beginnings to the present day. A poignant, sad, and sometimes mystical history haunts the people who once roamed over the vast, dry expanse of the Southwest's largest desert. Their struggle to survive and thrive, first in this harsh land and later with the invasion of strange and foreign people leaves them clinging tight to their old ways while being thrust into a new, and very bewildering world.". 1st ed? (No additional printings listed). Oversize Hardcover. New condition/No dust jacket, as issued. 95pp. Great Packaging, Fast Shipping.

About About Books

About Books (Genny and Michael Winne, proprietors, formerly of Parsippany, New Jersey) has been selling rare and OP books since 1985. Besides book fairs and mail-order catalogues, long-time collectors and dealers will remember our lengthy For Sale ads in the Antiquarian Bookman and similar magazines. Our inventory of over 40,000 volumes is especially strong in the specialties listed, but contains fine books in a variety of other fields as well. Because most of our books are stored in protective boxes, rather than on shelves, they cannot be viewed as a whole. If you wish to visit us to examine specific titles, please provide 24 hours notice and we will make them available for your inspection. Phone calls to (702) 750-2722 are welcome, but please, only between the hours of 8am and 10pm (west coast time).
