About This Item
Alfred A . Knopf, 1949. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" Signed by Elizabeth Bowen on the front endpaper. A First American Edition, Second Printing, 1949. From the library of author and Professor Sam Sebesta, with his signature and date of 1951 on endpaper. Beneath that are nine lines in Sebesta's hand in very light pencil that begin 'From Miss Bowen... complete concentration neccessary no reward can be counted on / first comes the vision, flashing pictures, then the idea.', This appears to transcribe from one of Bowen's conversations, lectures, works, or letters, mentioning Carson McCullers and Truman Capote. Could be erased, but quite interesting. 8vo. - over 7 ¾ in. - 9 ¾ in. 329pp., bound in light gray cloth. A Near Fine copy in a Very Good copy of the original jacket with minor rubbing and light shelfwear.
