About This Item
Simon and Schuster, 1970. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 0x0x0. Hardcover, 141 pages. Stated "First printing" on the copyright page. Very good hardback, quarter bound in purple boards with slightly darker purple cloth to the spine. Morrison's facsimile signature in purple gilt to the front board. Top edge of page block is dyed purple, which has dulled a bit with time. Previous owner's name in ink to upper right corner of front free endpaper. Lettering on purple and gold hilt to the spine. Otherwise clean and unmarked; binding is solid and square. Very good dust jacket, with original price of $3.95 at upper right corner of front flap. Some light crinkling at the head of the spine. Tiny chip at upper right front corner. Scattered scratch marks to the front and rear, the kind that really only show when book is tilted at an angle to the light. First published book of poetry by Jim Morrison, the "lead singer, composer and lyricist for The Doors." His poetry "responds with the driving rhythm, the sharp contrasts, and the often brutal honesty that identify the singular "Morrison" sound." His voice is "that off a talented, committed artist whose description of ourselves and our time echoes across the generation gap with the disturbing ring of truth.
