London: Ward, Lock & Company, Limited. VG-. ND(1899). 1st Edition. Hardcover. First edition bound in dark blue beveled cloth with gold decorations a nd lettering. Black & white illustrations by Lucy E. Kemp-Welch. 5 1/4 " X 8", 376 pages plus ads at the rear. A VG- copy. The book is rubbed at the corners and spine tips. It has moderate soiling. Former owner' s bookplate on the front endpaper and a gift inscription with the date , 1899, inked on the front fly. The fly leaves are tanned. Some foxing to the tissue guard on the frontis plate. Text otherwise clean and ti ght. Listed in Hubin. No dust jacket. .
