Macmillan and Co. Ltd. London. 1908. Reprint of the 1885 edition. Small 8vo. (6.1 x 4.1 inches). Engraved image to title page by G. Stodart. Finely bound, by Ramage of London, in beautiful early full brick red morocco, gilt. The spine with raised bands. Compartments ruled, decorated and lettered in gilt, including dark green dyed central dots. Elaborate floral centre design to boards with gilt tooling over green and fawn leather onlays. Floral corner decorations with green morocco onlays. Board edges with partial ruled gilt lines. Inner Dentelles fully decorated with gilt ruled lines and floral designs, surrounding fawn Moire silk centre pieces. Silk endpapers. All edges gilt. Spine just very slightly toned. A light mark to the top outer corner of the rear silk endpaper. Neat school prize label, from St. George's school Harpenden and dated 1913, to the front blank free endpaper and gilt coat of arms stamp to the front inner board but otherwise the pages are clean and bright throughout. A beautiful copy.
