About This Item
New York: Dodd, Mead and Company, 1896. Decorative Cloth. Very Good. The 1986 1st edition of Paul Laurence Dunbar's 1st comercially published book, this slim collection of 105 of his poems. A solid, very presentable copy to boot. Tight and VG+ in its gilt-decorated and gilt-titled green cloth, with light spotting and a bit of scuffing at the panels. Internally, foxing at the front free endpaper (and its verso) and the front pastedown, otherwise very clean. 16mo, top-edge gilt, deckled fore and bottom-edges. Wonderful frontispiece photograph of Paul Laurence Dunbar, Introduction by William Dean Howells.
