Earning the sobriquet "Mad", Wayne served in the Invasion of Quebec, the Philadelphia campaign, and the Yorktown campaign. Though his forces were defeated at the Battle of Paoli, his generalship was praised during the 1779 Battle of Stony Point. Promoted to Major General in 1783 he soon thereafter retired from the Continental Army. Book Condition : Good, Ex-College Library; no text marks; label on bottom spine and inside rear cover; bookplate inside front cover; light wear to spine ends and cover corners; some foxing to plate and maps.
