US,ACE DOUBLE,12mo p/back,1st edn.[M-135.Series of back to back "Ace Doubles",1966.] 'THE MAD METROPOLIS',p/back Original,1st edn,142pp,with colour pictorial cover art by Jack Gaughan,stated complete novel; 'Space Captain' 112pp,with colour pictorial cover art by Gray Morrow,stated complete First Book Publication - which originally was a shorter magazine version published by Amazing Stories,1965,and publisher adverts between end/beginning of either novel.VG+.No owner inscrptn and no price removal (45c) from cover(s).Each cover with previous bookseller's pair of UK,pre+post decimal inked prices (2/- + 10p) to either cover - 'Space Captain' with top,right-hand diagonal corner clip,and written inked prices repeated to exposed corner of front free endpaper (half-title blurb) beneath.Bright,crisp,clean,generally sharp-cornered,glossy colour pictorial illustrated card covers;with negligible shelf-wear,bumping or creasing to edges and corners - no nicks,tears or splits present.All edges aged/ toned; contents bright,tight,clean with minimal page-edge toning - no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corners.
Philip E. High,an English SF writer,author and his first published novel was 'The PRODIGAL SUN',1964.,though he did write SF starting in 1955 with 'The Statics' for 'Authentic Science Fiction', and contributing to English magazines especially 'NEBULA' for several years. A novel combing social comment and adventure.
Murry Leinster,US SF writer,pseudonym William Fitzgerald Jenkins,best known in the SF genre,under which he wrote almost all his work,with an exception of a few stories in magazines ('Bud Gregory' series as W Fitzgerald) and a small number as Will F. Jenkins.Pre-war,ML produced a great deal of material that didn't reach book publication until after 1945.The decade following were his best years,where his finest short stories were published.
