Stated first edition ; first printing. This American edition preceded the British edition(1962). The book is in excellent condition. Miniscule wear at the cover corners and at to and bottom of spine. Otherwise the book is like new. Dj is clipped at all corners (shows $3.75 price despite clipping) .Dj has small tears, chips, and at edges and wear at corners.. Author's illustrations, in the style of medeival woodcuts, throughout the book.
