About This Item
Collection of 3 photographs of the building of Transylvanian Railway Network between Mádéfalva and Gyimesbükk (today: Siculeni - Ghimeş-Făget). This part of the network was built between 1895 and 1897.
Due to the highland area there are several bridges, viaducts and tunnels on the railroad, one of them is the tunnel at Lóvész (today: Tunelul Ciumani at Livezi), with its lenght of 1223 meter it is still one of the longest railway tunnels in Romania. The photo is shows the entrance of the tunnel while under construction.
Two images showing the erection of the piers of the 150 meter long, 22 meter high viaduct and the at Bányavögy (Oravița) over the Trotuș River.
