About This Item
New York:: Louis Tannen, June, 1950.. 3rd Printing.. Paperbound: center-stapled format . BINDING/CONDITION: paperbound; center-stapled format; Good condition.. about 6.75 inches tall by 4.75 inches wide . Description: Includes a few small black and white illustrations. George E Arrowsmith was also the author of Magical Originalia, Exceptional Concepts, and Arrowsmith's Assorted Mysteries. The title page states that he was President of the Exonian Magical Society, a Member of the Inner Magic Circle; and Inventor of the 'Arrowsmith' Glass Penetration. The introduction by Max Andrew states that this ''will fill an especial niche in the edifice of magical literature. In a sense it deals with a branch of our art which has to a large extent previously been by-passed. I refer to the so called mental or psychic demonstration. Many performers have the idea that these effects call for a good deal of concentrated mental effort or sleight of hand which is only available to the few. Let me hasten to disillusion you if that is your impression. This branch of magic has as its chief virtue the fact that it apparently calls for no magical apparatus or preparation, as least so far as the audience can tell. In the Miscellaneous Section are a number of tricks which I feel will appeal to the majority, since they can be worked without having to build elaborate apparatus. The routines are simple but beautifully wrapped up for effective presentation. You cannot do better than to work from cover to cover through Magical Mentalia.'' Originally published in 1942, this is a later printing.
