NY: George H. Doran Company. Very Good+ in Fair dust jacket. 1921. Hardcover. Green cloth stamped in black. First Doran edition, reprinting the first edition from Duffield. Backstrip gently softened, trace rubbing to points/edges, else sound and square unmarked copy, crisp pages. The scarce DJ in mylar is chipped with some shallow losses, spine price rubbed through, front flap detached, included. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall .
Synopsis
W. Somerset Maugham was born in Paris in 1874. He began to study medicine in London but quit to focus exclusively on writing. In 1926 he bought a house in Cap Ferrat, France, which was to become a meeting place for a number of writers, artists and politicians. He died in 1965.
