William Heinemann Ltd., 1956. Paperback. Good. 1956. Collected Edition. 233 pages. Proof copy. White paper covers. Light tanning to pages with slight foxing and scuffing to text block edges. Light cracking and staining to gutters but binding remains firm. Paper covers have light edge-wear and corner curling with minor tanning and scuffing overall. Pencil inscription to front cover. Spine has visible rolling and creasing.
Synopsis
W. Somerset Maugham was born in Paris in 1874. He began to study medicine in London but quit to focus exclusively on writing. In 1926 he bought a house in Cap Ferrat, France, which was to become a meeting place for a number of writers, artists and politicians. He died in 1965.
