Presentation reads, 'To -----/Best Wishes/George Main/March 95'. 117pp. Illustrated with photographs; including 'Ramsgate in the twenties' and 'Birchington in the nineties'. The autobiography of George Main, (born 1919), in Dalston, North London. He had an uneventful childhood but recounts the seaside holidays at Margate, Broadstairs, and Ramsgate (in Kent) and their visits to Dreamland Amusement Park, Margate. When war broke out and endured six years of Army postings overseas. After demobilisation in 1946 he resumed employment with the New Zealand High Commission in London until retirement to Birchington, Kent. George now entered his songwriting phase and many are included as Appendixes: including, 'Birchington-on-Sea', 'Thanet Forever'. He has made several television appearances, singing some of his songs. Inscription of recipient on front endpaper; else a near fine copy of a SCARCE first edition SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR.. Presentation Copy Inscribed And Signed. First Edition. Paperback. Near Fine.
